AN EVENING OF JAZZ CONCERT

The Music Department is pleased to invite you to an exciting concert put on by our Jazz Ensembles on Friday, January 12, 2018.

Each year, we invite guest artists in to work with our jazz ensembles as part of our Annual Jazz Retreat Weekend. For the past few years, we’ve been featuring them in our “An Evening of Jazz” concert on Friday evening.

The concert will feature our Junior and Senior Jazz Ensembles as well as our two Jazz Combos. The main event, however, will be the performance from the Jodi Proznick Quartet. In addition to working with our students on Saturday, they will be performing their new album, Sun Songs for us.

Jodi’s ensemble features:

Katherine Penfold – vocals
Tilden Webb – piano
Steve Kaldestad -tenor/soprano saxophone
Jesse Cahill – drums
Jodi Proznick – bass/composer

Juno-nominated bassist, composer, bandleader, and educator Jodi Proznick has earned a reputation as one of Canada’s finest jazz artists. She has won numerous National Jazz Awards, including Bassist of the Year in ’08 and ’09. Her group, the Jodi Proznick Quartet, was awarded the Acoustic Group of the Year and Album of the Year in ‘08 and the Galaxie Rising Star at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in ‘04.

Please consider joining us for an exciting Evening of Jazz as we swing into the new school year!

Tickets are $10. Available online: here or at the door. Concert starts at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium.
