Event Details

HORACE SILVER FLUTES – A TWO-FLUTE TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC OF HORACE SILVER
Featuring special guest artist, Canadian flute legend Bill McBirnie from Toronto.
Horace Silver was known to incorporate flute on such recordings as The Jody Grind and Silver n Brass, but one is hard pressed in jazz to find two flutes (with rhythm section) recorded in Jazz.  There are two precedents, namely the Sam Most-Joe Farrell
and Herbie Mann – Bobby Jasper tandems, and, of course, Flutology, the group of Frank Wess, Holly Hoffmann, and Ali Ryerson.
Canada’s latest addition to the jazz flute tandems lands at Frankies as part of a BC/Alberta/Ontario mini-tour presentation of
Horace Silver Flutes, with Bill McBirnie and Jeremy Price reworking  the Tenor and Trumpet lines of Horace’s classic quintet for an eclectic two flute tribute to some of Horace’s beloved tunes with some of Canada’s finest jazz talent in each province.
With: Tilden Webb – Piano, Jodi Proznick – Bass, Richard Brisco – drums
