VSO School of Music Summer Jazz Workshop Week 1

Unlock your creative confidence in these exuberant 5-day Jazz Workshops under the guidance of Canada’s ‘A-list’ of jazz players and instructors. All participants join a combo, participate in masterclasses for your instrument or voice, delve into practical jazz theory and history and hear how the ‘pros’ do it in a daily faculty performance. Students may attend one or both sessions.

Week 1 – July 14-18 | The World of Jazz Composition

Special guest: Allison Au (alto saxophone)

The focus of each week will have specialist workshops on a variety of topics that may include performance anxiety, creativity, rhythms from around the world, composition, arranging and many others. These themes and topics may also be included in combo repertoire and music history classes.

Daily Schedule:

Fridays will include an evening Student Concert in Pyatt Hall at 6:30 pm.
