I am currently reading "Daring Greatly" by Brene Brown. I love her writing.

I just finished a two night musical adventure with NYC alto saxophonist, Jacam Manricks. We were playing his original music. The final night was in Edmonton at the Yardbird Suite (a wonderful performance venue run by a very dedicated group of volunteers). The experienced and talented NYC drummer Clarence Penn joined us on the Edmonton gig. The music was difficult - odd time signatures and very challenging changes. There was no chordal instrument - only bass, drums and alto sax. It was challenging. It was intimate.

I know that I did my best. I know that I played wholeheartedly. I know that I was pressing into some discomfort and uncertainty. I know that I was brave. I was in the arena. I know that I was daring greatly.
